Spartan squads win three relay golds at RVC meet

Exira-EHK boys place fifth out of nine conference teams with 55 points; girls seventh with 31 points

 MONDAMIN (April 29) -- Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton’s boys and girls track teams combined to win three relay golds at the Rolling Valley Conference Meet here Monday, placing fifth and seventh, respectively, in the final team standings.
 Woodbine swept the RVC team titles in impressive fashion. The Tiger boys won nine events and outscored CAM 173-105 while Boyer Valley won four golds and placed third with 96. The Woodbine girls won six events and finished with 138 points, followed by Glidden-Ralston (111), West Harrison (87) and CAM (86).
 The Exira-EHK boys placed 10 times in nine events and came in fifth with 55 points. Two relay golds highlighted the meet for Sparty as Cole Burmeister, Trever Schulz, Creighton Nelson and Jayden Goodwin teamed up to win both the sprint medley and the 4x100. The same quartet also took second in the 4x200 relay.
 Top E-EHK individual performances came from Nelson in the 800 (second place), Schulz in the 200 (third) and Aaron Allen in the shot put (third).
 The Spartan girls placed nine times in eight events and finished seventh overall with 31 points. The only first-place showing came in the 4x800 relay as Makaela Riley, Macy Emgarten, Shelbi Wilson and Camryn Paulsen won with a season-best time of 11:23.58.
 Exira-EHK also placed second in the distance medley relay as Riley, Selena Nichols, Paulsen and Wilson clocked a season-best time of 5:02.32. Paulsen later ran her best time this year in the open 800 (2:50.19) to place fourth.
