Spartan boys top CAM by seven shots in RVC golf opener

 ANITA (April 1) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton boys golf team opened the season with a first-place showing at Crestwood Hills Golf Course last Monday in the first Rolling Valley Conference Meet of the season.
 The Spartans, who return four members of last year’s third-place Class 1A state tournament team, scored a 180 in Anita to top CAM, the host school, by seven shots. Coon Rapids-Bayard placed third with a 194.
 Exira-EHK’s Ev Carroll and CAM’s Ben Tibken both carded a five-over-par 41 on Crestwood’s back nine, with Carroll taking home top medalist honors on a tiebreaker.
 The Spartan scorecard also included a 44 from Will Carroll and a 45 from Cole Burmeister. Tyler Petersen shot a 50, Jayden Jensen had a 55 and Trey Nelson added a 57.
