Spartan boys roll into districts

 ELK HORN (Feb. 9) -- Cole Madsen led three Spartan players in double figures with 17 points Friday night as the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton boys closed the regular season with 56-46 victory over Woodward Academy.
 Once 3-5 in early January, the Spartans won 11 of their last 13 regular season games and will take a 14-7 record into district tournament play later this week.
 Exira-EHK will face Fremont-Mills on Thursday night (6:30 p.m.) at Council Bluffs St. Albert.
 Madsen added seven rebounds Friday as the Spartans adjusted to Woodward Academy’s quickness as the game went on. They trailed 13-8 in the first quarter and tied the game 25-25 by halftime before outscoring the Knights 31-21 in the second half.
 Dakota Rold added 13 points and nine boards for the Spartans, who outrebounded the Knights 34-22.
