Softball: SB-L tops Cyclones 13-3

SERGEANT BLUFF -- Slugging two home runs and 10 total hits off Harlan Community pitcher Emily Brouse, the Sergeant Bluff-Luton softball team also took advantage of four HCHS errors to beat the Cyclones 13-3 in five innings last Wednesday. The Warriors, who moved up to eighth in Thursday’s Class 4-A state rankings, finished the game early by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth to bust up a 3-3 tie.
Anna Ahrenholtz led HCHS at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a run scored and one RBI. Kaylie Briggs and Madison Parman both added a single while Lexi Larsen and Molly Gubbels (sacrifice fly) both drove in a run. Brouse walked three and struck out two in four and two-thirds innings, but only six of SB-L’s 13 runs were earned.
