Six Cyclone bowlers named all-conference

Phipps and Leinen earn first-team honors after leading HCHS in average

    REGIONAL -- Six Harlan Community senior bowlers, including two first-teamers, have been named to the 2016-2017 Hawkeye Ten All-Conference bowling teams.
 HCHS girls who were recognized include Jessie Phipps on the first team, Molly Wingert (second team) and Nicole Willcoxon (honorable mention). Phipps posted a team-high 151.1 game average as the Cyclone girls finished 5-6 in duals and placed fourth at the Hawkeye Ten Tournament. Wingert averaged a 148.3 and Willcoxon’s average was 124.4.
 HCHS boys on the all-conference list were first-teamer Mitchell Leinen, second-teamer Nicholas Andersen and Brody Sorensen (honorable mention). Leined led the team with a 189.4 game average as the Cyclone boys went 8-3 in duals and placed second at the conference meet. Andersen and Sorensen averaged 180.2 and 176.1 per game, respectively.
