Sears leads area players with 10 points at KMAland All-Star Classic

 TABOR (March 17) -- Brett Sears of Harlan Community and Cole Burmeister of Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton both played for Glenwood coach Curt Schulte’s winning team as part of the 2nd Annual KMAland All-Star Basketball Classic held Sunday at Fremont-Mills High School.
 Also selected to play in the senior showcase was IKM-Manning’s Gabby Cadwell.
 In the boys game, Sears had 10 points and four rebounds while Burmeister added five points and three boards to help Schulte’s squad defeat F-M coach Steve Raymond’s team 102-81 behind a 30-11 finish. Christian Stanislav of Glenwood received MVP honors after scoring 21 points and grabbing nine rebounds. He made 5-of-7 three-point attempts.
 In the girls game, Cadwell had five points and three rebounds for CAM coach Joe Wollum’s team, which lost 61-51 to Treynor coach Joe Chapman’s team. Central Decatur’s Alli Masters was named MVP of the defensive battle after finishing with five points, 10 rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals.
IBCA All-Star Games:
 Burmeister, Exira-EHK’s senior point guard, was also selected to play in the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games set for Saturday, March 23 at Dallas Center-Grimes High School. Burmeister will compete for the SW Iowa Boys, coached by Exira-EHK’s Doug Newton and Van Meter’s Jed Alexander.
