Reunion of IWL Old Timers set for Sunday at Portsmouth picnic

 PORTSMOUTH -- A 70th anniversary reunion of Iowa Western Baseball League Old-Timers will take place during the St. Mary’s Portsmouth Picnic on Sunday, July 30, in conjunction with the IWL Tournament championship game.
 The Old Timers include players who have participated in the league between 1947 and 2017. Old-Timer registration will start at 12:30 p.m. and the Old Timers will be introducted and presented certificates between innings of the 1 p.m. championship game between Walnut and Portsmouth.
 There is a $2 entry fee to the game for the public.
 A Staley’s chicken dinner will follow the game at 4 p.m. inside the St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
 Of the 40 towns that have participated in the Iowa Western League over the years, Portsmouth is the only community to field a team all 71 seasons.
