Peyton Gross recognized for 100 career wins

FORT DODGE -- Former IKM-Manning softball pitcher Peyton Gross was honored at the State Softball Tournament Thursday night (July 25) for being a 100-game winner during her prep career.
Gross, the daughter of Paul and Joy Gross, Manilla, was recognized prior to the Class 2A championship game as a new member of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s 100-win club. Since 1955, only 338 Iowa softball pitchers have accomplished this feat, including Beth (Gawley) Hagedorn, Andi Rasmussen, Arynn Rasmussen, and Lynne (Larson) White from I-K, I-K-M and IKM-Manning schools.
Gross was a five-time all-state selection (twice a first-teamer) during her career at IKM-M, finishing with a 110-28 pitching record and 1,093 strikeouts in 847.3 innings. As a senior in 2018, she was 24-3 with a 1.38 earned run average and 235 strikeouts while batting .564 with 18 extra-base hits.
Gross also put together a solid freshman campaign as a member of the Buena Vista University softball team this past spring. She pitched in 19 games (10 starts) for the 19-17 Beavers, leading the team with an 11-3 record, a 2.86 ERA and 74 strikeouts. She also notched two saves.
