Pettepier throws for 336 in Spartan rout of Wildcats

 EXIRA (Sept. 14) -- Senior quarterback Josh Pettepier completed 24-of-31 passes for 336 yards and two touchdowns last Friday night as Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton stayed unbeaten with a commanding 51-20 win over Glidden-Ralston in a matchup of unbeaten football teams.
 The 2nd-ranked Spartans improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in 8-Player, District 8 and currently own a one-game advantage on six teams at 1-1. Glidden-Ralston, which was held to 58 rushing yards by E-EHK, dropped to 3-1 and 1-1, respectively.
 Pettepier was on target all night, completing 77.4 percent of his attempts to five different receivers. Jayden Goodwin (146 yards) and Cole Burmeister (93 yards, two touchdowns) both caught nine passes on the night while Ian Leader had three receptions for 33 yards and Trever Schulz added a 39-yard catch.
 The Spartans added 144 yards on the ground, led by Dawson Carey’s 43 yards on just four carries.
 Cade Bruns led the Spartan defense with 10 total tackles and an interception. Ethan Conroy and Schulz both made nine tackles and Burmeister snared two INTs to go with four tackles.
