Pettepier’s four TD passes highlight big Spartan win
SIDNEY (Aug. 31) -- Senior quarterback Josh Pettepier threw four touchdown passes and also ran one in from 33 yards out last Friday night as the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton football team rolled past Sidney 43-8 in its second and final non-district game of the year.
The Spartans have now outscored their first two opponents - who both won at least one playoff game last year - by a combined 88-35 in the first two weeks of the season. The 4th-ranked (8-Player) Spartans will open district play this Friday (Sept. 7) by hosting Audubon (1-1).
Pettepier was highly efficient against the Cowboys, completing 14-of-19 passes for 235 yards and one interception. His four TD throws included two to Jayden Goodwin (four catches, 111 yards) and one each to Cole Burmeister (5-66) and Trey Nelson (4-53).
Defensively, Ian Leader was the Spartans’ top tackler with four solos and seven assists.
