Pair of road wins lift HCHS girls over .500 mark
GLENWOOD -- The Harlan Community girls basketball team moved above the .500 mark for the first time this season over the weekend (January 12-13), sweeping a pair of road games at Clarinda and Glenwood.
HCHS pulled away in the second half Friday night to rout the Cardinals 77-37 in conference play, then used a fourth-quarter rally to beat the Rams 52-47 in a non-conference matchup Saturday.
The Cyclone girls are now 6-5 overall and 5-2 in the Hawkeye Ten, good for third place in the league standings.

Nicole Lange led four Cyclone double-digit scorers with 18 points and eight rebounds Friday while freshman Brecken Van Baale added a career-high 14 points to go along with four steals and three assists.
HCHS led 34-24 at the half before outscoring Clarinda 22-11 in the third quarter and 21-2 in the fourth.
HCHS 52, Glenwood 47
Lange had another big game on Saturday, this time finishing with a season-high 24 points and six rebounds as the Cyclones rallied late to beat the Rams 52-47. Lange shot 8-of-11 from both the field and the foul line.
HCHS led 17-11 after one quarter but was outscored 19-8 in the second and trailed by five at the break, 30-25. Glenwood still led 39-35 after three before the Cyclones won the fourth quarter 17-8.
Anna Ahrenholtz finished with 10 points and five rebounds for HCHS while fellow front court player Macie Leinen scored eight.
