Osborn ranks fifth on Iowa’s career win list

HARLAN -- Harlan Community boys basketball coach Mitch Osborn reached a new career milestone with Friday night’s 65-53 victory over St. Albert, passing Western Christian’s Jim Eekhoff for fifth place on Iowa’s list of career coaching win leaders in the sport.
Osborn improved his record to 682-160 during 35 years at Elk Horn-Kimballton, Pomeroy-Palmer and HCHS. Jim Squiers ranks fourth in state history with 686 wins.
“It (means) you’ve been doing it a long time and had a lot of great players... lot of great assistant coaches and our parents are great,” he said. “They let us coach and they’re great supporters. Our kids step up and they accept their roles... so it’s just a pleasure. It’s been a great time, it’s been fun and I’m looking forward to the future.”
