Olmos, Lemon hit 100 wins as Cyclone wrestlers sweep Creston and LC
COUNCIL BLUFFS (Jan. 31) -- Oscar Olmos and Ethan Lemon both notched career win number 100 Thursday night as the Harlan Community wrestlers capped an outstanding regular season with a double dual sweep at Lewis Central.
HCHS beat Creston/O-M 45-30 and defeated the host Titans 40-29, improving to 25-2 overall and wrapping up second place in the Hawkeye Ten Conference dual standings at 9-1.
Carroll was unable to attend the rescheduled meet, costing the Cyclones a chance to tie the school record for dual wins in a season.
Olmos, a senior 145-pounder, achieved career wins 100 and 101 with a pin against Creston and a major decision vs. LC.
Lemon, a 126-pound junior, pinned Creston’s Beau Thompson for his 99th win, then hit the century mark with a 6-2 win over LC’s Taber Dominguez in a rematch of their conference meet final, also won by Lemon.
Four other Cyclones also went 2-0 on the night: Luke Freund had a win by fall and a decision; Carter Bendorf had a pin and an overtime decision; Joey Arkfeld recorded two pins and Derec Weyer won by fall and a forfeit.
