NL team wins IWL All-Star Game

 PORTSMOUTH (Aug. 8) -- The National League squad blew open a close game with 10 runs in the final two innings to defeat the American League 13-3 in Wednesday night’s Iowa Western Baseball League All-Star Game at Portsmouth.
 The NL team consisted of players from Portsmouth, Panama and Persia while the AL selected players from Council Bluffs, Walnut and Massena. The game was tied 3-3 after seven innings before the NL scored four runs in the eighth and six in the ninth, outhitting the AL 12-4 overall.
 Kenny Umphreys (Persia) was the winning pitcher while Shea Patterson (Massena) took the loss.
 National League batting leaders included Brett Greenwood, Jake Daeges and Riley Wohlers - all from Panama - with two hits each and doubles by Ben Bruck (Portsmouth), Keith Grap (Portsmouth) and Umphreys.
 For the American League squad, Sawyer Ocheltree (Massena), Andrew Sachs (Walnut), Alex Johnson (Council Bluffs) and Patrick Sachs (Walnut) all hit safely.
