Lynx edge HCHS in tennis opener
HARLAN -- The Harlan Community boys tennis team fell one match shy of a dual victory in Tuesday’s season opener vs. Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, losing a 5-4 final decision on its home courts.
Competing without their number-one player in senior Isaac Stitz, who was unavailable for the meet, the Cyclones won two out of three doubles matches but couldn’t overcome a 4-2 deficit in singles play.
The Cyclone doubles wins were decisive as Josh Cheek and Kaleb Kaster won 8-3 and the team of Alec Plagman and first-year senior Caleb Rasmussen prevailed 8-2. The Lynx’s 8-4 win in No. 3 doubles decided the dual outcome.
