Lynx blank HCHS in tennis opener

HARLAN (March 26) -- The Harlan Community boys tennis team was unable to win a match in Tuesday’s season opener vs. Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, losing 9-0 on the Harlan courts.
The closest varsity battle of the day came at number four singles, where HCHS senior Jack Buman lost an 8-10 decision to AL’s Carter James. The number one singles match saw Cyclone sophomore Brock Bruns fall 6-10 to Dalton Pregon.
The remaining varsity spots for Harlan were filled by Jonathan Cheek (No. 2), Mitchell Rueschenberg (No. 3), Adam Kohl (No. 5) and Braden Fink (No. 6).
“Very simply, we got outplayed at every position,” said HCHS coach Chad Bruns. “It’s early in the year obviously, so we need to get back to work and keep improving. Hats off to the Lynx as they played very well with so few practices to get ready for this meet.”
