Lions knock out AHSTW boys in 1A substate final, 5-0

 DES MOINES (May 26) -- Another successful AHSTW boys soccer season came to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Vikings were shut out by ninth-ranked Des Moines Christian, 5-0, in a Class 1A, Substate 7 final.
 The Vikings were held to just four shots on goal and seven total shots while the Lions finished with 18 and 32, respectively, led by a three-goal hat trick from Blake Witty.
 Ben Webster (2 assists) and Curran Ingram also scored goals for Des Moines Christian (15-1), which will face No. 2 Iowa Mennonite School (18-1) in a 1A state tournament quarterfinal on Thursday in Des Moines.
 Witty, Webster and Ingram combined to attempt 23 total shots against AHSTW, which finished 14-3 overall after going 12-1 a year ago.
 The future looks bright for the Vikings, who will lose just four seniors off this year’s roster.
