Lady Vikes hit 9-of-13 treys in rout of Tigers
AVOCA (Jan. 30) -- The AHSTW girls basketball team extended its winning streak to three games Tuesday night and evened its Western Iowa Conference record at .500 with a commanding 65-35 home win over Griswold.
The Lady Vikes, now 8-11 overall and 8-8 in the WIC, scored at least 14 points in every quarter and built on a 10-point halftime lead by outscoring the Tigers 18-5 in the third. They shot just under 50 percent from the field overall, including an impressive 9-for-13 showing from behind the three-point arc. They also knocked down 12-of-16 free throws.
Five AHSTW girls hit at least one three on the night, led by Claire Denning’s at 3-for-4, Kinsey Scheffler 2-for-2 and Claire Harris 2-for-3.
Morgan Eckmann paced the Lady Vikes’ balanced attack with 12 points, followed by Claire Denning and Scheffler with 11 each.
