Lady Vikes go 2-2 in home tourney

 AVOCA -- AHSTW placed second in Pool A and reached the championship bracket in last Saturday’s first annual Lady Vike Volleyball Classic, finishing with a match record of 2-2 that leaves them just one win shy of last year’s season total.
 Clarinda won the brand new tournament with wins over Denison-Schleswig and Sidney in the championship bracket. Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson was the consolation bracket champion after beating Riverside and CAM.
 The Lady Vikes went 2-1 in pool play, scoring wins over Riverside (21-12, 21-19) and Atlantic (21-15, 12-21, 15-11) while losing to Denison (17-21, 17-21). They lost to Sidney (last year’s Class 1-A state runner-up) in the semifinals, 8-21, 2-21 to finish the day.
