Kuemper snaps Cyclones’ long H-10 winning streak

HCHS suffers first conference loss since 2012

HARLAN -- All good winning streaks - no matter how dominant - will eventually come to an end.
Such was the case for the Harlan Community volleyball team here Tuesday night as the Kuemper Catholic Knights snapped the Cyclones’ string of 28 straight Hawkeye Ten match victories with an impressive 3-1 decision.
Following a lopsided opening set in which HCHS looked completely out of sync, the Knights survived hard-fought battles in two of the next three games - avoiding a fifth - to win 25-12, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23.
The conference loss was Harlan’s first since a 3-2 setback at Lewis Central on September 4, 2012. Since that time, HCHS had compiled a remarkable set record of 84-3 in Hawkeye Ten action.
