Kaster nabs runner-up spot at LC Invite

HCHS and AHSTW squads combine for seven top-25 medalists

COUNCIL BLUFFS -- Harlan Community sophomore Greichaly Kaster stepped up her game at Iowa Western Community College on Saturday, posting a season-best second-place performance to pace a group of four Cyclone medalists at the Lewis Central Cross Country Invitational.
Both HCHS squads placed sixth out of 12 teams, with the girls scoring a 125 and the boys scoring 179. The AHSTW girls, meanwhile, finished ninth (208) while the Viking boys (306) were 12th, combining for three individual medalists.
Kaster earned her third top-five showing in as many meets and improved three places from last week’s Abraham Lincoln Invite, besting two runners - Alexis Cook of Missouri Valley and Aubrey McIntyre of Glenwood - who had finished ahead of her on essentially the same course. Underwood junior Karley Larson ran away with Saturday’s individual title in 18:48 while Kaster improved by 33 seconds from a week ago to win the battle for second in 19:54.
