Jones, Grobe make All-State soccer list
STATE -- Harlan Community junior Keaton Jones and AHSTW senior Preslyn Grobe both received honorable mention All-State recognition in June from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association following outstanding 2017 seasons for the Cyclones and Vikings, respectively.
Jones, a junior goalie, was named to the Class 2-A honorable mention list after helping the Cyclones finish 15-3 overall this past season (a school record for wins) and finishing as tri-champions of the Hawkeye Ten Conference at 6-1. Jones totaled 81 saves during the year against 13 goals allowed for an outstanding save percentage of .862. This was an improvement over last year’s .797 save percentage when Jones made 114 saves and allowed 29 goals.
Grobe, a senior forward, was named to the 1-A honorable mention list. He was the top offensive threat for a Viking team that had the best season in program history this past spring, finishing 12-1 overall on the heels of an undefeated regular season. Grobe finished with team-highs of 17 goals, 11 assists, 45 points, 73 total shots and 49 shots on goal. He finished his career with 26 goals and 18 assists.
