IPSWA announces girls basketball All-State teams

 DES MOINES (March 5) -- The Iowa Print Sports Writers Association announced its 2019 girls basketball all-state teams on Tuesday, selecting three eight-player teams in all five classes and naming West Des Moines Valley’s Zoe Young this year’s Miss Iowa Basketball.
 No players from the Harlan Newspapers’ immediate coverage area were recognized on the all-state list, but several players from local conferences were honored.
 First-team selections included Ar-We-Va senior Emilee Danner (Class 1A), Treynor seniors Kayla Chapman and Konnor Sudmann (2A), Shenandoah senior Logan Hughes (3A) and Creston sophomore Kelsey Fields (3A). Chapman and Sudmann led Treynor to the Class 2A state title.
 Second-teamers included CAM senior Madison Gettler (1A), Creston senior Brielle Baker (3A) and Lewis Central junior Megan Witte (4A). Third-teamers were Logan-Magnolia junior Kylie Morrison (2A), Denison-Schleswig senior Alex Mohr (4A) and Glenwood sophomore Elle Scarborough (4A).
