Inspired rally sends Wolves past Wheelers

IKM-Manning turns 15-point deficit into 11-point victory

MANNING -- With less than six minutes to go in the third quarter Tuesday night, the situation looked bleak for IKM-Manning.
Outplayed by Audubon for most of the first half, the 8th-ranked (1-A) Wolves had just fallen behind 44-29 following a seven-point Wheeler possession that included a technical foul on IKM-M coach Keith Wagner.
The once 9-0 Wolves, who lost their previous game at Missouri Valley, appeared in jeopardy of falling for the third time in five tries and slipping to third place in the Western Iowa Conference standings.
But just like that, the momentum of the game shifted 180 degrees on a dime.
Whether it was Wagner’s technical lighting a fire under his team, Audubon big man Andrew Blomme heading to the bench with four fouls or the defensive intensity of Jared Vollstedt spreading to his teammates, the Wolves turned things around and never looked back, outscoring Audubon 45-19 over the last 13:30 to post a satisfying 74-63 victory.
