Heithoff scores twice in 4-0 Cyclone victory
ATLANTIC (April 26) -- Michael Heithoff scored two goals and assisted another Friday night, leading the Harlan Community boys to a 4-0 Hawkeye Ten Conference soccer win at Atlantic.
HCHS, which led 3-0 at the half and subbed frequently, did not allow a single shot on goal and outshot the Trojans 35-2 overall, snapping a two-game losing skid and improving to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in league play. Atlantic fell to 3-6 and 0-3, respectively.
After being held scoreless in their previous match at Denison, the Cyclones needed just 47 seconds to get on the board Friday when Heithoff took a pass from Joe Devine and knocked home a shot from about 10 yards.
Heithoff assisted the next goal, dribbling down the left side and passing to Colton Barnes at the top of the 18-yard box. Barnes drilled his first goal of the season with 25:25 left in the half.
About 17 minutes later, Cole Kramer scored an unassisted goal after dribbling through the right side of the midfield and cutting past a defender. Kramer assisted the Cyclones’ final goal with 30:06 remaining, passing to Heithoff who connected from 14 yards out.
