HCHS walk-off win extends streak

HARLAN (June 27) -- The Harlan Community baseball team picked up its first walk-off win of the season last Wednesday, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh off Sioux City West reliever Ray Ray Douglas to rally past the Wolverines 5-4 at Jim Goeser Field.
HCHS trailed 4-0 after an inning and a half before chipping away and extending its winning streak to 17 games.
Still down 4-3 with three outs to go, Jared Moser led off the Cyclone seventh with a walk and scored the tying run on Ryan Doran’s RBI double. Brett Sears then put down a sacrifice bunt and Doran scored the winning run when the throw was not handled at first base.
The rally made a winner out of HCHS pitcher Jacob Bartley (4-0), who settled down after a rough start to pitch a complete game.
The Cyclones scored their first three runs on an RBI ground out by Bartley in the second, a solo home run by Sears in the third and a Luke Schaben sacrifice fly in the fifth.
