HCHS softball thumps Saintes

 COUNCIL BLUFFS -- Sending 14 batters to the plate in a 10-run top of the fourth, Harlan Community hammered St. Albert 12-0 in a four-inning Hawkeye Ten softball game Tuesday night (June 27), improving to 7-11 in conference play.
 HCHS has now outscored the Saintes 26-2 in two head-to-head matchups this year, playing just seven innings combined.
 Cyclone eighth-grader Emily Brouse (8-8) pitched an abbreviated no-hitter in Tuesday’s shutout, striking out six and issuing three walks over four innings.
 HCHS held a modest 2-0 lead until the fourth, when its first nine batters reached safely to ignite a 10-run frame. Molly Gubbels hit a two-run double for the team’s only extra-base hit while Morgan Schaben and Anna Ahrenholtz both had RBI singles in the inning.
