HCHS places fourth at Omaha Burke

Wingert, Knudson earn individual championships for Cyclone wrestlers

 OMAHA, NEB. -- Jacob Wingert and Austin Knudson led the Harlan Community wrestling team for the second straight weekend as the Cyclones placed fourth out of six teams at Saturday’s Omaha Burke Invitational.
 Wingert and Knudson, who both finished 8-0 at Mount Ayr’s Ron Scott Memorial Dual Tournament (January 15-16), followed up with first-place efforts at Burke.
 Wingert dominated the field at 160 pounds, going 5-0 with four pins in the round-robin format, including two wins in less than a minute. Knudson finished 2-1 with one pin at 126, taking first place on tie-breaking criteria.
 Lucas Carter added a second-place finish at 113, going 2-1 with a pin. His only loss was a 9-6 decision in the final match.
 Overall, nine out of 13 HCHS wrestlers placed fourth or better, with each weight class featuring between three and six individuals.
