HCHS girls start slow in loss at St. Albert

COUNCIL BLUFFS (Feb. 6) -- The Harlan Community girls basketball team never recovered from a slow start in Tuesday night’s 67-45 loss at St. Albert.
HCHS fell behind 21-10 in the first quarter and was later outscored 20-10 in the fourth as the Saintes avenged a 20-point loss in Harlan earlier this season.
The Cyclones were also scheduled to play at Sioux City East Monday night, but the game was cancelled due to inclement weather.
St. Albert (9-11 overall) utilized two players - Kalyn Wettengel and Bailee Cook - that it did not have when the Cyclones beat the Saintes 58-38 on January 5. Wettengel scored 12 points Tuesday, second only to teammate Emily Recher’s 14.
HCHS, which shot just 32 percent from the field, was led by 11 points from Macie Leinen and 10 from Lexi Larsen, who knocked down a pair of threes while adding six assists.
