HCHS girls show improvement in 3-0 loss to Tri-Center

HARLAN -- It didn’t result in a win, or even any goals, but progress was evident Monday night as the Harlan Community girls soccer team took on 10th-ranked (1-A) Tri-Center at Merrill Field.
Battling brutal conditions - cold and wind - as well as a formidable opponent, HCHS showed improvement on multiple fronts in a 3-0 loss to the Trojans.
Tillie Heim scored two first-half goals for T-C, including one on a short-range free kick, and Alyssa Baatz added a third goal in the 49th minute as the Trojans improved to 5-0 on the year. Tri-Center outshot the Cyclones 21-8 overall and 12-5 in shots on goal, but HCHS coach Jared Boysen felt that his team made positive strides from its 4-2 home loss vs. Sioux City West just three days earlier.
“Especially in the first half, I think we took advantage of the wind when we had it right away and had a lot of positives working together up front offensively,” said Boysen. “We just didn’t finish on those, but I think that was an improvement from Friday night - like putting more than just one pass together. They were working together a little bit better.”
