HCHS girls bowlers top Cardinals by 70 pins; boys fall to 2-4

 HARLAN (Jan. 10) -- Jayden Gessert rolled a two-game series of 338 (158-180) and Olivia Petersen scored a 327 (148-179) to lead the Harlan Community girls bowling team past Clarinda 2,181 to 2,111 at Cyclone Lanes last Thursday. HCHS improved its dual record to 4-2 on the season.
 Petersen, a first-year participant in the sport, is also the lone senior on the squad and was recognized along with her parents for Senior Night.
 In the boys’ half of the meet, Clarinda pulled away from HCHS in the Baker Games format and won 2,737 to 2,582, dropping the Cyclones to 2-4 overall despite their best dual score of the season. HCHS junior Samuel Andersen led all bowlers with a 419 (222-197) and Darren Stein was next in line with a 409 (184-225). The Cardinals (4-3) also had two individual scores over 400 - Parker Rock 409, Brady Williams 404 - and outscored Harlan 917-786 in the Baker Games.
