HCHS baseball walks off vs. Sioux City West; Softball team avenges East

 REGIONAL (June 27) -- The Harlan Community baseball and softball teams both picked up exciting non-conference wins over Sioux City schools on Wednesday night.
 The Cyclone baseball team rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to get past Sioux City West 5-4 at Jim Goeser Field, running their win streak to 17 games and improving to 19-2. Ryan Doran tied the game with an RBI double and scored the winning run when the Wolverines did not handle a throw at first on Brett Sears’ bunt.
 The Cyclone softball team evened its overall record at 14-14 with an impressive 6-1 win at Sioux City East, avenging a close loss to the Black Raiders from the Fort Dodge Tournament. Morgan Schaben notched 18 strikeouts in the game and narrowly missed a shutout. Emily Brouse and Madison Schumacher both homered for HCHS.
