Sioux City North 2, HCHS 0
 SIOUX CITY (May 24) -- Trenton Frerichs pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and Aaron Eybers hit a solo home run as Sioux City North shut out Harlan Community 2-0 in its season opener.
 HCHS (2-1) got doubles from Jared Moser and Connor Bruck and a single by Brett Sears but couldn’t string anything together against Frerichs, who also walked two batters.
 Riley Kohles (0-1) took the loss, allowing just two hits and one run in four innings. He walked four and struck out three. Tyler Schaben pitched the final two innings and allowed one run on two hits.

Sioux City Heelan 12, HCHS 2 (5)
 SIOUX CITY (May 25) -- Already leading 6-2, Bishop Heelan plated six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to beat Harlan Community by the rule, 12-2, in a matchup of Class 3A teams ranked in the top five.
 The experienced Crusaders (4-1) totaled 13 hits against Cyclone pitchers Luke Schaben (0-1) and Logan Klaassen, getting a home run from Calvin Keller and triples by Hunter Hope (2-for-4) and Elijah Hazekamp. Brenden Roder went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Colin Kasperbauer was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Christian Velasquez pitched all five innings for the win, allowing five hits, walking five and also striking out five.
 Luke Schaben went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead HCHS (2-2) which also got singles from Jacob Bartley, Klaassen and Jon Owens.
