HCHS, AHSTW girls compete at Central

 PELLA (March 22) -- The Harlan Community and AHSTW girls track teams combined for 18 top-10 finishes at Friday’s Central College Girls High School Indoor Meet at the Kuyper Fieldhouse in Pella.
 The Cyclones and Lady Vikes competed against a large field of teams - many from Class 4A - with some events including more than 100 or 200 entries.
 HCHS senior Chloe Hansen recorded the highest area finish, placing third out of 105 competitors in the 60-meter hurdles. Hansen clocked a time of 9.93 seconds in the finals after running the second-fastest prelim time (9.80).
 Additional place-winners for the Cyclones included a fourth-place effort in the 4x800 relay and fifth-place showings in the 3,000 (Lucy Borkowski), 4x200 relay and 4x400.
 AHSTW’s top performance was a fifth-place time of 1:02.47 by Ryann Portch in the 400-meter dash. The Lady Vikes also placed seventh in the 4x400 relay, ninth in the 60-meter dash (Cora Comer), 10th in the 4x800 relay and 13th in the 1,500 (Jade Draman).
