Harris becomes Vikings’ all-time scoring leader in loss to Treynor

AVOCA (Jan. 9) -- AHSTW senior R.J. Harris became the school’s all-time leading scorer in boys basketball history here Tuesday night, but his 17-point effort wasn’t enough to lift the Vikings past unbeaten Treynor.
The 9th-ranked (Class 2A) Cardinals pulled away in the final four minutes to hand AHSTW a 65-49 defeat and sweep the season series.
Treynor improved to 9-0 overall and 9-0 in the Western Iowa Conference while the Vikings dropped to 7-3 overall and 6-3 in the WIC.
Late in the fourth quarter, Harris broke the school scoring record for AHSTW, surpassing Charlie Pattee’s mark of 1,217 points established in 1975.
Jake Martin added 16 points for the Vikings and Jack Paulson scored 10.
