GLENWOOD -- Harlan Community sophomores Chloe Hansen and Greichaly Kaster combined to win four of the team’s seven gold medals Thursday night (April 13) as the Cyclone girls finished just four points out of first in a third-place showing at the Glenwood Ram Relays.
Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln survived a late Cyclone surge to win the team title with 124 points, closely followed by Glenwood (121), HCHS (120) and Logan-Magnolia (104).
The Cyclones scored 38 points in the final four events, winning the 400-meter hurdles, 1,500 run and 4x400 relay while placing second in the 4x100. They scored 17 times in 14 events overall, improving five relay times in the process.
Hansen ran her first 400-meter dash of the year and clocked the team’s fastest time (1:03.78) to earn the gold. She later cut time in her signature event as well, winning the 400 hurdles in 1:08.94.
Kaster was also a double-winner for HCHS, outlasting Lo-Ma’s Taylor Sporrer in both the 3,000 and the 1,500. Kaster’s 1,500 time of 5:23.04 marked a new personal best.
Cyclone senior Allison Bruck continued to dominate local opposition in the 100-meter hurdles, winning in 15.85 seconds.
