Hall’s third-place effort leads six area WIC medalists

TREYNOR (Oct. 9) -- Heidi Hall paced three AHSTW girls in the top eight and three other area runners also took home medals from the Western Iowa Conference Cross Country Meet held October 9 at the Treynor Recreation Area.
The Logan-Magnolia girls and Tri-Center boys won this year’s team titles while Underwood’s Karley Larson and Treynor’s Jerry Jorgenson defended their individual WIC championships.
Hall, who placed 18th at last year’s conference meet, added to a banner senior season by finishing third with a time of 20:20, trailing only Larson (19:09) and Tri-Center’s Peyton Pogge (19:45). A pair of Lady Vike freshmen, Julia Kock and Chloe Falkena, placed sixth and eighth, respectively.
As a team, the AHSTW girls placed fourth with a score of 73, finishing just five points behind second-place Underwood.
Also placing in the top 10 was IKM-Manning senior Payton Sporrer - a perennial WIC medalist - who placed seventh for the IKM-M girls.
The Wolves placed third in the boys team standings, meanwhile, scoring a 72 to finish behind T-C (31) and Missouri Valley (68). Five IKM-M boys finished in the top 25, led by Quentin Dreyer (8th) and Dillon Hansen (12th).
AHSTW senior Dalton Fischer, a fixture in the top five at most meets this year, slipped to 13th at the WIC meet but came back to place fifth at the Missouri Valley Invite five days later.
