Frederick shines as Cyclone girls win a pair

 ADEL -- Taylor Frederick eclipsed 20 points on consecutive nights while Jordyn Moser and Emma Ahrenholtz also posted back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts as the Harlan Community girls handily defeated St. Albert and A-D-M this past weekend.
 The Cyclones, who moved up to No. 2 in the latest Class 4-A rankings, won a 60-38 conference home game vs. the Saintes on Friday night, then turned around less than 24 hours later and notched a 75-54 non-conference road win over the Tigers on Saturday.
 HCHS improved to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in Hawkeye Ten Conference play (one game ahead of Lewis Central) going into Monday night’s home contest vs. Kuemper Catholic (3-7, 1-4). The Cyclones will play a pair of road games this weekend - going to Clarinda Friday night and Glenwood on Saturday (4:30).
HCHS 60, St. Albert 38
 HARLAN -- Leading 27-20 at halftime, the Cyclones played an outstanding third quarter - outscoring St. Albert 23-9 - to record a 22-point win over the Saintes (8-3, 3-2 H-10), who entered the game having won seven of their last eight.
 Frederick enjoyed one of her best all-around games of the season, shooting 9-of-14 from the field and totaling 20 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and four assists - all team highs. Moser added 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals while Ahrenholtz reached double-double status with 11 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.
 Allison Bruck chipped in seven points for the Cyclones, who shot 45 percent from the field and held St. Albert to just 30.2 percent.
 Paige Beacom led the Saintes with 22 points and seven steals.
HCHS 75, A-D-M 54
 ADEL -- Frederick shot even better on Saturday, hitting 8-of-11 field goals and scoring 22 points as HCHS ran its winning streak to nine games with a 75-54 win over the Tigers (5-5 overall).
 Three other Cyclone starters also reached double digits, including Moser with 17 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Clare Klein and Ahrenholtz both added 11 points and Lexi Hoffmann scored five.
 HCHS built a sturdy 36-21 halftime lead, then held off a third-quarter Tiger rally by outscoring the hosts 24-15 in the final period.
 The Cyclones shot 59 percent overall and made 8-of-16 three-pointers, led by Klein (3-for-5) and Ahrenholtz (2-for-2).
 A-D-M was led by Sydney Bertman’s 18 points.
