Fifty-point first half leads Exira-EHK boys to big win at Wells Fargo

 DES MOINES -- Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton put up 50 first-half points on the Wells Fargo Arena floor and posted a 79-53 boys basketball win vs. Nodaway Valley on December 23.
 The Spartans stormed out to a 27-11 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to 50-26 at halftime, improving to 3-4 overall.
 “We played our best basketball of the season in the first half,” said E-EHK head coach Doug Newton. “We shared the ball well and did some nice things on defense that led to offense.”
 Cole Burmeister led four Spartans in double figures with 24 points, shooting 8-of-10 from the field and 6-of-7 at the free throw line while adding five rebounds and four assists. Trey Nelson totaled 13 points, nine rebounds and four steals, Dakota Rold had 11 points and nine boards, Josh Pettepier had 10 points, seven assists and three steals and Cole Madsen added eight points and six rebounds.
