Fifth-rated Trojan softball team blanks Cyclones

HARLAN -- The Harlan Community softball team played Atlantic to a scoreless tie through four innings Monday night (June 26), but the fifth-ranked (3-A) Trojans put together back-to-back three spots in the fifth and sixth to beat the Cyclones 6-0 and complete a season sweep.
After HCHS was unable to capitalize on a scoring opportunity in the bottom of the fourth, Atlantic loaded the bases via two walks and an infield hit in the next half inning, setting the stage for Ally Anderson’s three-run double to right-center field.
The Trojans scored three more runs in the sixth on four hits, including an RBI double by Karsyn Rush.
McKenzie Waters, Anderson and Alyssa Derby all went 2-for-4 to lead Atlantic, which posted its seventh consecutive win in improving to 26-6 overall and 16-1 in the Hawkeye Ten.
HCHS (10-19, 6-11 H-10) managed just three singles against Anderson, who struck out nine and walked only one. Lexi Larsen went 2-for-3 to lead the Cyclones and Madison Schumacher added a single.
