Falcons top Cyclones in Hawkeye Ten finale

 COUNCIL BLUFFS (July 11) -- The Harlan Community baseball team was unable to rally back from an early 7-1 deficit at St. Albert Thursday night and lost an 11-6 decision in both teams’ Hawkeye Ten Conference finale.
 HCHS finished 15-5 inside the conference, tying Glenwood for second place behind Lewis Central. St. Albert placed fourth at 13-7.
 The Falcons scored seven runs in two innings against Cyclone starter Riley Kohles (2-1), who allowed four hits and walked two batters. Many of St. Albert’s runs on the night were unearned.
 HCHS pulled within 7-4 in the fourth but the Falcons plated four more runs off Joey Moser in the bottom of the inning.
 Reed Miller led St. Albert with three runs and three RBI, going 2-for-3, while Ethan Bernard (one double) and Isaac Sherrill both went 2-for-4 with two RBI. The Falcons outhit HCHS 9-3.
 The Cyclones, who hurt their cause by committing three errors, got singles from Luke Schaben, Derec Weyer and Brenden Bartley on the day. Schaben also walked twice and scored two runs. HCHS drew nine walks as a team.
