Falcons spoil HCHS Senior Night, 3-1

HARLAN -- A slow start plagued Harlan Community on Senior Night last Friday as St. Albert scored all three of its goals in the opening 13 minutes to beat the Cyclones, 3-1, at Merrill Field. The Falcons improved to 9-8 overall (4-2 in the Hawkeye Ten) while HCHS dropped to 7-7 and 2-4.
With HCHS fielding a starting lineup of nearly all seniors, St. Albert struck for a goal 47 seconds into the match when Jake Hubbard scored off the rebound of Cyclone goalie Keaton Jones’ diving save. Then with 33:59 left in the first half, HCHS was called for a foul in the box and Rodrigo Barajas converted the penalty kick to make it 2-0. Less than seven minutes later, the Falcons scored again as Charlie Donaldson crossed the ball from the left corner and Max Donaldson flicked in a header goal.
