Drake Relays Hopefuls

 REGIONAL (April 14) -- Area track and field athletes have through Thursday night’s meets to improve their season-best performances in an effort to qualify for the 110th Drake Relays in Des Moines, April 25-27.
 As of Sunday night, local track teams were in position to qualify seven entries in six events for Drake, based on results posted to Quik Stats Iowa. Several other individuals or relays are within striking distance to qualify but need to make improvements this week. The Harlan Community boys lead the way with five entries on pace to qualify and five others in contention.

HCHS Girls 4x100 Relay (S. Musich, D. Wegner, A. Alberti, C. Hansen) - time of 52.91 ranked 61st in the state; top 96 will qualify
HCHS Boys 4x100 Relay (M. Griffith, A. Schechinger, C. Bruck, E. Boldan) - time of 45.61 ranked 82nd in the state; top 96 will qualify
HCHS Boys 4x400 Relay (E. Boldan, J. Monson, J. Owens, M. Erlemeier) - time of 3:29.35 ranked 14th in the state; top 24 will qualify

Derec Weyer, HCHS, sr., Discus - throw of 159 feet, 4 inches ranked 11th in the state; top 24 will qualify
