Cyclones punch three tickets to State Meet

 HARLAN -- The Harlan Community wrestling team will be represented by three individuals at this week’s state tournament after Lucas Carter, Jacob Wingert and Nick Foss all placed second in Saturday’s Class 2-A District Tournament.
 Wingert, a senior 170-pounder, will return to Des Moines for the second straight year while juniors Carter (126) and Foss (182) are first-time state qualifiers. They will open competition in 16-man brackets starting Thursday night (6:00 p.m.) inside Wells Fargo Arena.
 “It means a lot,” Wingert said. “It’s the last year I can do this, so it felt great knowing that I made it, even though (second place) wasn’t how I planned on making it.”
 Carter, who entered the day with the fewest wins among four wrestlers in his bracket, may have been an upset pick to qualify in some people’s eyes, but certainly not his own.
