Cyclones place high at Atlantic Golf Tournament

ATLANTIC -- Posting four scores between 78 and 84, the Harlan Community boys golf team placed fourth out of 14 teams in the Atlantic Trojan Tournament last Tuesday (May 2) at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club.
Atlantic won the meet with an outstanding team score of 289, followed by Clarinda (305), Kuemper Catholic (310), HCHS (323) and ADM and Glenwood both at 324.
Kevin Campbell paced the Cyclones with a steady round of 78 (40-38) and Troy Nowatzke also broke 80 with a 79 (38-41). Matthew Bjoin’s 82 and Ross Petersen’s 84 also qualified toward the team’s final score.
“I think today we hopefully turned a little bit of a corner,” said HCHS coach Chad Swanson. “All the guys played a consistent round of golf for 18 holes. We did not have any blow-ups and we greatly reduced wasted penalty strokes. We have a ways to go but are headed in the right direction."
