Cyclones finish 0-3 at ADM Soccer Tourney

ADEL (April 6) -- Despite taking more shots on goal than two of its opponents, Harlan Community finished 0-3 last weekend following three close losses vs. quality competition at the ADM Boys Soccer Tournament. HCHS dropped to 2-3 on the season.
The Cyclones were defeated by Southeast Polk 2-0 on Friday night, then lost a heartbreaker to ADM 2-1 Saturday morning that ended in a penalty kick shootout won 4-2 by the Tigers. With only 10 minutes between games, the Cyclones were then defeated 4-1 by Des Moines East.
The Cyclones didn’t score their first goal of the tourney until 40 seconds remained in the second match vs. ADM. Down 1-0, HCHS tied the score in exciting fashion as Jordan Fink sent a high corner kick to the back side of the six-yard box where Levi Culp headed it past the goalie and into the net. Fink and Michael Heithoff both converted for the Cyclones during the ensuing PK shootout, but it wasn’t enough as ADM put four of its five attempts to the back of the net.
Heithoff scored the Cyclones’ only goal against Des Moines East on a 40-yard free kick that snuck inside the left post.
