Cyclones’ late offensive surge enough to top Falcons

HARLAN -- A strong fourth quarter erased a somewhat forgettable first three Friday night as the Harlan Community boys basketball team rallied for a 54-45 home win over St. Albert.
Outscored 10-2 in the second period, HCHS trailed 33-29 before outscoring the Falcons 25-12 in the fourth for its second consecutive win of the new year.
Josh Cheek sparked the fourth-quarter fireworks with a three-pointer and Shane Chamberlain and Logan Klaassen both hits two treys in the final stanza. The Cyclones also made 11-of-15 second-half free throws after shooting 3-of-9 in the first half and played good enough defense to earn the victory.
HCHS improved to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference, tied with Kuemper Catholic and Atlantic for second place behind Lewis Central (7-0). St. Albert is now 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
