Cyclone Cross Country Camp draws 61 runners

HARLAN -- A total of 61 runners in grades 7-12 attended this week’s Harlan Community Cyclone Cross Country Camp, under the direction of HCHS head coach Doug Renkly. The Cyclone harriers took part in various workout drills throughout the five-day camp, which will end with Friday’s timed race at Prairie Rose State Park. The camp participants included 20 in middle school and 41 high schoolers.
This year’s HCHS varsity squads will both return five letter winners from 2015, when the Cyclone boys (13th) and girls (15th) both qualified for the Class 3-A State Meet in Fort Dodge. The Cyclone boys also repeated as Hawkeye Ten Conference Meet champions while the girls placed second. HCHS will open the season on Saturday, August 27, at the Glenwood Invite, 9:00 a.m.
