Cyclone boys win three events at NW Missouri indoor meet

 MARYVILLE, MO. (March 16) -- Winning two individual events and one relay, the Harlan Community boys track team posted some impressive early-season performances at last Saturday’s Northwest Missouri High School Open.
 The indoor meet was held at Hughes Fieldhouse on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University. The Cyclones competed in nine events and placed in the top five at least once in seven out of nine.
 HCHS gold medals included Michael Erlemeier in the long jump with a top mark of 20 feet, 1.25 inches, closely followed by teammate Eli Boldan in second place with a jump of 20-1.
 Cyclone junior Johnathan Monson won the open 400 in 52.76 seconds and senior Jon Owens was third in 54.28, both running personal-best times.
 HCHS won the 4x200 relay in 1:34.92 behind Mason Griffith, Connor Bruck, Boldan and Erlemeier and later placed second to Atlantic in the 4x400 as Erlemeier, Owens, Boldan and Monson clocked a time of 3:34.09.
 Erlemeier added a fourth-place effort in the 60-meter dash (out of 100 entries) and Trey Gross had a solid day in the distance races, placing fifth in the 3,200 with a new ‘PR’ of 10:46.12 and placing third in the 1,600 in 4:55.68.
