Cyclone boys place third at competitive Ram Relays

 GLENWOOD -- Times came down and point totals went up for the Harlan Community boys track team as the Cyclones placed third in a field of eight at Monday’s Glenwood Ram Relays.
 Placing in 16 of 19 events and scoring twice in eight of 12 individual competitions, HCHS tallied 115.5 points to come in third behind Glenwood (189) and Atlantic (130.5).
 The host Rams dominated in the sprints and middle-distance races, winning six relays and 11 events overall, including Mavrick Decker’s sweep of the 100 and 200. The Trojans also claimed a double-winner in Gratt Reed (110 high hurdles, 400 hurdles) and won four events.
 The Cyclones’ only gold medal came in the long jump, where junior Nick Foss improved his personal-best to 21 feet, 2.5 inches, soaring more than a foot farther than the rest of the field. Foss also placed second in the 200, third in the 100 (new PR, 11.52) and led off the Cyclones’ second-place 4x200 relay (season-best 1:37.05).
 HCHS had a good day overall in the field events, placing seven times for 38.5 points.
